Low-to-high cable chest fly

Bring the handles upward and together in a rounded arc. The low-to-high cable path emphasizes the upper chest without turning the movement into a press.

Step by step

  1. Set both pulleys low, attach separate handles and choose a light, matching resistance on each side.
  2. Stand slightly ahead of the pulleys in a stable staggered stance, arms low and out to the sides with elbows gently bent.
  3. Brace your torso and sweep both arms forward and upward in a rounded arc, keeping the elbow bend nearly constant.
  4. Bring the handles close together in front of your upper chest without crossing or shrugging.
  5. Open the arms slowly back to a comfortable starting position; keep the weight stacks controlled.

Common mistakes

  • Bending and extending the elbows to turn the fly into a press or curl.
  • Leaning back, shrugging or lifting the hands far above shoulder height.
