Step by step

  1. Kneel on a mat, place your hands slightly narrower than shoulder width, and shift forward until the shoulders are above the hands.
  2. Brace your torso and form a straight line from head through hips to knees.
  3. Bend the elbows close to your sides and lower your chest under control.
  4. Press the floor away until the elbows are straight without letting the hips sag.

Common mistakes

  • Letting the elbows flare far outward or placing the hands too far ahead.
  • Dropping the hips or leading the movement only with the head.
